There are two versions of the Calculator. The one at the bottom of this page allows you to quantify the benefits of home-based work for the whole U.S., individual states, counties, congressional districts, metro areas, or cities. It’s based on U.S. Census data plus variables and constants we’ve gleaned from dozens of studies.
Our Custom Telework Savings Calculator (which you can also access by clicking on the Modify Assumptions option below), allows you to quantify how much a telecommuting program could save your company or community based on your own assumptions.
To see how it works, select your state and then calculate the results. Then click on Modify Assumptions, and change the fuel price and look at the results. Then enter the number of employees in your company and how many days per week they currently work from home to see what you’re already doing to save money, improve lives, and reduce pollution. Then enter the number of people that could telecommute, but instead of using our 40% assumption—enter your own estimate based on the particulars of your workforce. If you’re a software developer try 90% or even 100%—companies such as Orbx and mySQL have been successful at reaching those levels.
Reporters On Assignment: If you need additional details or would like us to do a custom calculation, email us info-at-undress4success-dot-com. Please let us know what organization you represent and your deadline. If you are a reporter you’re welcome to call us at 760-703-0377 or 760-473-2574.Note: You can only search on one area at a time—all 50 states, a given state, or within a state, a particular county, congressional district, metro area, or city. Not all cities are available as they weren’t included in the census data. If you know the number of residents and how many telecommute in the city you’re interested in, click the Modify Assumptions option, fill in that data and you’ll have the answer.
